"Memo" Filter exchange Indicator
The "MEMO" is an electronic filter change reminder, incorporated in to the lid of the jug.  The "MEMO" counts down the remaining cartridge life. At a glance one can see how much filter life is left and when the cartridge is exhausted after 8 weeks, a flashing arrow prompts you to replace it. 
When you install a new cartridge, simply press and hold the"START" button until the indicator shows 100%.
