Aluminium is often used as a precipitating agent in some water treatment plants. If not removed properly, it can be found in drinking water. High levels of aluminium in the drinking water can have a toxic effect on the human body. The ion exchanger in the BRITA MAXTRA filter significantly reduces levels of aluminium. (1)
